BERGAMO is a five-ply twisted SUPERLIGHT yarn made of superfine merino wool with 18.5 microns and 25% baby alpaca in Aran weight. The carded yarn with a meterage of 65 m on only 25 g (71 yd. on 0.88 oz.) gets its unique lightness through an innovative manufacturing method and the temperature-regulating and breathable properties of the merino wool are supported once again positively. The addition of baby alpaca makes it even softer, and the wool fluff is reinforced by the characteristic alpaca fluff. This results in a stitch effect with a subtly soft cuddly look.
The mulesing-free raw merino wool for BERGAMO is certified regarding animal welfare, sustainability and social responsibility and we source it from selected shepherds in Australia. The alpaca wool used comes from Peru, where the animals are kept in their natural environment in the highlands of the Andes. We have BERGAMO spun in Italy by a family-run traditional company and dyed according to the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 for baby products.
BERGAMO is particularly suitable for warm winter knitwear, hats and scarves are ready in no time at needle size 4.5 - 5.5 mm. Textured and cable patterns are particularly highlighted and even thick winter sweaters and transitional coats are airy and light. Thanks to its machine washability it is also very suitable for baby clothes.
BERGAMO can wonderfully be knitted individually but is also a good basis for combinations with other qualities. For an extra portion of fluff and even more softness, BERGAMO can be excellently combined with our Super-Kid mohair yarn PREMIA, but also MODENA and of course our alpaca yarns PIURA and CUSI are perfect as accompanying yarns.
LAMANA color world: Due to the carefully coordinated colors, our qualities can be combined very harmoniously with each other, but also offer the possibilities of light nuances and strong contrasts.
Care: BERGAMO can be washed in the washing machine using the wool cycle at 30°. The wool then blooms again and becomes noticeably softer, fluffier and the knitting pattern even more dense. We recommend the use of a neutral, mild wool detergent without enzymes and plasticizers, in very low doses. Then dry the knitted piece gently lying flat and avoid direct sunlight.
The LAMANA SUPERLIGHT Collection – for featherlight knitwear:
Thanks to innovative manufacturing processes, our SUPERLIGHT yarns offer a unique lightness. Thus, the knitted favorite pieces weigh significantly less than usual and offer an incomparably airy wearing comfort.
